Boca Juniors campeón argentino: El invicto de Unión Temuco ante los xeneizes

Era el verano del año 2011. Unión Temuco llevaba tres años desde su fundación de la mano de Marcelo Salas, el Matador que por esa época también lideraba una pujante productora que se quedó con varios de los más importantes espectáculos deportivos del país, trayendo incluso a Lionel Messi a tierras nacionales. Antes, había conseguido a varias figuras mundiales para su despedida del fútbol ante un estadio Nacional lleno. La idea principal era comprar Provincial Temuco (no Deportes Temuco), sin embargo esta idea no prosperó. En 2008 nacía una nueva Sociedad Anónima del fútbol chileno. Lo curioso es que su sede quedaba en Vitacura, en la Región Metropolitana

Unión Temuco, año a año, fue subiendo el costo de su planilla. A fines de 2009 logró el ascenso a la Primera B, y en 2010 ya tenía una de las nóminas más costosas de la División. Ese año se quedaron afuera de la Liguilla de Promoción en un partido de desempate ante Curicó ante 16.500 espectadores en el Germán Becker. Una locura para el joven equipo que cambiaba las banderas verdes por las rojas en el Ñielol. Los  “Salas Boys” caerían por penales, en una de las grandes tristezas que recuerda el estadio Bicentenario. En 2011 debería venir la revancha.

El año empezó con todo. Otra vez subiría el valor de la plantilla y la presentación de los nuevos refuerzos en la “Noche Roja” marcaría el primer encuentro internacional en la historia de Unión Temuco. Con gestión de “M11 Salas Producciones”, el 22 de febrero del 2011 el equipo del Sur enfrentaría al poderoso Boca Juniors de Julio César Falcioni en la banca, y con Juan Román Riquelme y Martín Palermo como figuras. ¿La razón? Ese año el equipo xeneize no jugaría Copa Libertadores y tenía calendario abierto en los primeros meses del año.

Entre el 15 de enero y el 2 de febrero del 2011 el equipo de Falcioni jugó cuatro amistosos de primer nivel. Venció 2-0 a Independiente, 2-0 a River, 3-0 a San Lorenzo y había empatado 1-1 otra vez con River Plate. Llegaría embalado hasta la Novena Región de Chile. El partido sería transmitido a todo Chile por Mega y serviría para presentar refuerzos de nivel como Sebastián Pardo, Mauricio Aros, Hugo Bascuñán y Frank Carilao. Buen panorama veraniego en el Germán Becker, salvo por el temor que provocó la información de la llegada de «La Doce». La barra brava de Boca Juniors llegó en un bus desde Argentina, alarmando a las autoridades locales. En la radio local, casi en pánico, avisaban que habían pasado la aduana de Lonquimay y que ya enfilaban hacia el Bicentenario. Fueron instalados en Pacífico, en el codo que da con el Ñielol, aunque hubo que aumentar el contingente policial.

Poco antes del partido se supo que finalmente Boca Juniors no vendría con sus estrellas. Ni siquiera venía con su DT. Los xeneizes habían privilegiado el inicio del torneo argentino y mandarían a un cuadro alternativo dirigido por Roberto Tito Pompei, un talentoso volante zurdo que había sido conductor de Vélez Sarsfield, Boca Juniors, Racing y Estudiantes de la Plata. Las figuras del equipo que vendría a Chile serían Juan Sánchez Miño y Ricardo Noir, delantero de gran irrupción en 2008 con un juego similar al de Rodrigo Palacio. Parecido físico y futbolístico para un delantero de regulares campañas, pero que nunca llegó a demostrar la explosividad con la que inició como segundo delantero. Terminó jugando muy por las orillas, como volante, haciendo mucho trabajo táctico. Fue jugador de Universidad Católica en la temporada 2016 – 2017.

El equipo de Roberto Pompei salió esa noche del 22 de febrero de 2011 con Maximiliano Scafaroni (quien ya había jugado en Ñublense); Leandro Marin, Gaston Sauro, Enzo Ruiz (jugó en Unión Española entre 2012 y 2013), Leandro Aguirre; Esteban Orfano (46′ Leandro Cuzco), Jonathan Mazzola, Juan Sanchez Miño (73′ Franco Fragapane); Nicolas Gonzalez (jugó en La Calera en 2012); Ricardo Noir (jugó en la UC), y Kevin Genaro, reemplazado a los por 56′ Joel Acosta, quien luego fue jugador de O’Higgins.

El equipo chileno de Carlos González saltó ante los 6.500 espectadores con Juan Martínez; Frank Carilao, Leonardo Ruiz, Juan Pablo Toro y Alonzo Zúñiga;  Sebastián Domínguez, Mauricio Aros; Patricio Lira, Sebastián Pardo; Ignacio Quinteros y Matías Donoso. Luego ingresarían Robin Melo, Alejandro Márquez, Braulio Baeza y Miguel Ángel Orellana.

Pese a no venir con las grandes figuras, todas las crónicas de la época recuerdan el partido como un “partidazo”. Dirigido por Eduardo Gamboa, los sureños se pusieron en ventaja a los 75 minutos con un golazo de tiro libre del mundialista Mauricio Aros. Solo cinco minutos después sería el central Enzo Ruiz, luego jugador de Unión Española, quien pondría el 1-1 definitivo mediante un cabezazo en un duelo televisado para todo el país. La razón del buen partido disputado en el Germán Becker, sobre todo por los locales, fue, según Marcelo Salas, porque el equipo se preparó para jugar ante los titulares de Boca Juniors.

La temporada del 2011 sería muy mala, pero la inversión seguiría. En 2012 organizarían la Copa Temuco, ganándole a Colo Colo y perdiendo con Católica. Avanzarían hasta cuartos de final de la Copa Chile con gran campaña de Matías Donoso, quien haría un triplete en el 4-1 a Huachipato, a la postre campeón del fútbol chileno ese año. Sería la última gran campaña del cuadro sureño antes de su fusión con Deportes Temuco en 2013. Fueron cinco años de un equipo que supo competir en la División donde le tocó jugar, y que puede decir que terminó invicto ante Boca Juniors, el último campeón del futbol argentino.
