El noticioso ida y vuelta de Chile-Colombia en 1993: Bavaria, Escorpión y el “Tino” de Faustino

La foto que acompaña esta nota es la foto más famosa de Faustino Asprilla en internet. Claro que está cortada, porque si no nos bajan de la web. No se trata de un gol ni de una celebración, solo de un momento cualquiera en un amistoso ante Chile en Bogotá, el 6 de junio de 1993. Sí, fue en ese partido cuando el Tino dejó en evidencia su virilidad, el inicio de un mito que se corroboró en su paso en la U el 2003. “Cuando llegaba a vestirse después de la ducha lo aplaudíamos”, cuenta uno de sus compañeros azules desde el anonimato. Y eso que Chile cambió.

Ese amistoso entre Chile y Colombia fue el partido de revancha de un “ida y vuelta” a pocos días de la Copa América 1993. La Roja de Salah se preparaba para el torneo de Ecuador, en donde se le ganaría a Brasil con dos goles Richard Zambano y uno de José Luis Sierra, pero en donde no se podría clasificar a cuartos de final  tras perder con Paraguay (0-1) y en ese entonces al débil Perú (0-1), pese a contar con Iván Zamorano, que llegaba al tercer partido directamente desde Real Madrid, en mediática dupla con Zambrano. Era el “Ataque Z-Z”, cuatro años antes del bautizo mundial de la dupla Za- Sa (Zamorano-Salas) en un Chile-Paraguay en 1997.

Pero volvamos a los Chile-Colombia de 1993. El cruce ya había hecho noticia en el partido de ida. Colombia se preparaba para la Copa América  y tenía previsto una serie de amistosos. Surgió la idea de poner en la camiseta del equipo la publicidad de Bavaria al frente y el de Avianca en la parte de atrás. Así jugó ante Chile en Santiago, además de Estados Unidos en Miami, Venezuela en Bogotá, Chile en  Bogotá y Francia en Martinica.

Sin embargo, era bien conocido que las selecciones no pueden tener publicidad en la camiseta por reglamento FIFA, que le mandó un comunicado a la Federación Colombiana de Fútbol llamándole la atención e incluso estudiando una posible desafiliación. Al final solo fue una multa de 64.000 dólares, que en ese momento equivalían a unos 30 millones de pesos chilenos, y no pasó a mayores.

En el partido de ida ante Chile, con la publicidad de Bavaria al frente de la camiseta, Colombia empató 1-1 ante la Roja con uno de los mejores goles marcados en el Estadio Nacional, lamentablemente fue de la visita. 

Ese 30 de mayo de 1993, cuando Chile ya ganaba 1-0 con tanto de Fabián Guevara (49’) tras rebote de Mondragón a un penal de Estay, el histórico Freddy Rincón se arrancó de la marca de Margas por la izquierda, centró al medio y el habilidoso Víctor Hugo Aristizábal (68’) definió con un escorpión, tres años antes de ser popularizado por su compatriota René Higuita en Wembley. Fue 1-1 en el Nacional, aún sin saber de la cuantiosa multa por el sponsor en la camiseta ni del salto a la fama del “Tino” de Faustino Asprilla, una semana después en Bogotá.

Ese partido en Colombia se jugó el 6 de junio de 1993, mucho más cerca de la Copa América de Ecuador que iniciaba el 15 de ese mes. Los colombianos, que en boca de su propio DT Pacho Maturana, priorizaban las Clasificatorias a EEUU 1994 que la Copa América, saltaron con todo a la cancha, mientras la Roja de Salah apelaba  a la delantera de Juan Castillo y Richard Zambrano.

A los 51’, Valderrama recibió un balón cerca de mediacancha y cedió a Faustino Asprilla, quien con la 16 en la espalda, encaró y desde 30 metros sacó un zapatazo inatajable para Marcelo Ramírez, quien sería el suplente de Patricio Toledo en la Copa. El Tino celebraría con todo, lo que no se sabe es si fue antes o después del “acierto” fotográfico que lo hizo más famoso que los goles en Parma o Newcastle. 

Ese era el Tino, el que hizo publicidad para Aseguradoras, diciendo que la casa estaba tan segura que hasta podrían prestársela a él para una fiesta. El Tino, el de “sin plata no hay indisciplina”. El Tino, el de la foto que ahora están buscando en google.
