Pato Yáñez en La Serena: Con Dalla Libera y el encargado de los impuestos de Argentina

Si hoy, treinta años después, revisamos las estadísticas de 1992, hay dos datos llamativos que marcan esta historia. Primero, fue la temporada donde Patricio Nazario Yáñez Candia no jugó ningún partido oficial, salvo un amistoso de inicios de año ante River Plate. ¿El otro? Pese a una irregular campaña, el DT Eddio Inostroza dirigió oficialmente las 30 fechas en La Serena. Hoy, probablemente se hubiera ido en medio del campeonato, pero la relación era tan cordial que incluso Yeyo tenía a su hijo Cristian en el primer equipo y llegó a jugar diez encuentros en su único año como profesional.

Inostroza y Yáñez venían de ser campeones de América en 1991. Yeyo como ayudante de Mirko Jozic, y el Pato como el puntero derecho titularísimo. Sus caminos se volverían a encontrar en 1992, año en que Inostroza optó por tener su primera experiencia en solitario, mientras que Yáñez había decidido entrar “en receso deportivo” debido a las lesiones, pero también a problemas personales. “Es como en el básquetbol, pedí un minuto hasta el 31 de diciembre de 1992”, decía a Don Balón en su primera edición.

Ya cerca de fin de año, el Pato se comenzó a reencontrar con el fútbol y varias veces se le vio en el viejo estadio de Quillota apoyando a su querido San Luis. Eddio Inostroza, mientras tanto, negociaba con el presidente serenense Lary Bullemore para no perder protagonismo en la cabina técnica granate. La idea de la dirigencia de La Serena era sumar a Pedro García, DT que dejaba el Atlas de México, y que quería echarle una mano al club donde se había retirado como jugador en 1975. El mito dice que ni Inostroza ni García quisieron ser ayudante del otro. El tema se decidió salomónicamente y Pedro García Barros quedó en una especie de Gerencia Técnica, pero con mucha ascendencia sobre el armado del equipo. En Futgol, Más Gol y Zoom Deportivo se comenzó a hablar de la dupla de Inostroza-García. Se conocían desde los 60 y 70, pero ninguno quería ser el segundo del otro.

La estadía de Inostroza y García en La Serena sirvió en la mejora del juego, pero también en la organización del aniversario del club, el feriado del 8 de diciembre de 1992. Iba a ser un amistoso entre La Serena y Huracán de Argentina, pero un amistoso muy particular. Los granates iban a tener en sus filas a los entonces jugadores azules Horacio Rivas y Claudio Rata Rodríguez, a Osvaldo Arica Hurtado, y al coquimbano Rubén Tanucci, quien había jugado en el club un año antes. Además de ellos, el equipo papayero pudo reforzarse con dos campeones de América 1991. El Yeyo Inostroza convenció a Patricio Yáñez de volver al fútbol antes de tiempo y le calzó la 9 de La Serena. También estuvo Luis Pérez como lateral derecho, quien ese año 1992 había regresado a Universidad Católica para ser volante o delantero. En el plantel granate ya estaban a préstamo los campeones de América Raúl Castro y Leonel Herrera, quien le dejaba la 9 a Patricio Yáñez para el duelo ante los argentinos.

La elección de Huracán no había sido al azar. En el Globo se encontraba el Loco Mariano Dalla Libera, un sueño eterno de La Serena que se había confirmado como refuerzo antes del Torneo, y que con Pedro Garcia en la Gerencia Técnica por fin se podía concretar. García era un DT respetado en México, justo en los años en que el Loco estuvo en Atlas y Puebla, dos equipos en los que también había dirigido el entrenador chileno, pese a que nunca pudieron coincidir.

Dalla Libera, ilusionando aún más a los serenenses, aceptó jugar un tiempo para cada equipo. En la segunda mitad tomó la 10 de Héctor Kunta Cabello y se lució como conductor, a pocas semanas del inicio de la temporada 1993, pero aún sin terminar la 1992 ni en Chile ni en Argentina. Tras esos 45 minutos con la granate, con un clima perfecto poco antes de comenzar el verano, todos pensaron que el pase ya estaba hecho. Iba a ser tarea de García convencerlo. Finalmente no se dio, y su nombre comenzó a sonar por los siglos de los siglos en la Cuarta Región, en años donde Coquimbo sí pudo traer a José Daniel Bocha Ponce, Óscar Román Acosta y Norberto Ortega Sánchez. 

Dalla Libera se quedaría un tiempo más en Huracán, y en 1993 volvería a un equipo grande del país trasandino. Pasaría a Racing de Avellaneda, luego de haber estado en dos etapas en River Plate en la década de los 80. Unión de Santa Fe, Estudiantes de La Plata y el millonario fútbol colombiano de esos años también habían tenido su talento.

El partido, ese 8 de diciembre de 1992 por el aniversario de La Serena, terminaría 2-2. Entre tantos “galletas”, por La Serena sí pudieron jugar en el equipo titular Alberto Valenzuela, Danilo Chacón, Héctor Cabello, Juan Carlos Kopriva y el arquero Carlos Castagneto, hoy hombre fuerte de la política argentina, hace poco nombrado por Alberto Fernández como Director del AFIP, una especie de Servicios de Impuestos Internos de Argentina. Antes ya había sido diputado, entre otros cargos de relevancia política. Lo curioso es que Mariano Dalla Libera también optó el camino político. Fue Secretario en varias instituciones, pero luego se volvió hombre de televisión, en un reality show y en El Show del Fútbol de Alejandro Fantino. Hoy es fuente de consultas para conocer su opinión sobre la actualidad de los equipos en donde jugó, y del fútbol argentino en general.

Para 1993 Inostroza sí se iría de La Serena y en su lugar llegaría Roberto Guagua Hernández, en su primera incursión en el profesionalismo. Yeyo volvería a Colo Colo para ser otra vez ayudante de Jozic, y también para dirigir a Patricio Yáñez, quien regresaba de su receso. Alargaría su carrera para 1993 y 1994, e incluso volvería a la Selección. Dalla Libera, como ya está dicho, jamás llegaría a La Serena, pese a sonar en todos los mercados de pases. Era un conductor clásico, elegante, que en 1993 hubiera tenido que luchar un puesto con José Ortega y en 1994 con Juan Quiroga. 

La ilusión de que llegara a la Cuarta Región tuvo mucho que ver con el partido donde Patricio Yáñez se puso la granate, lo mismo que en 1988 ya había hecho Carlos Caszely junto a su compadre Severino Vasconcellos. Esa será otra historia.
